The CEPHEI Platform connects teachers and students, supporting high-quality online and blended learning across diverse academic and professional fields. Since its launch, it has become a vibrant hub for digital education, with courses ranging from statistics, finance, engineering, and energy to innovation management, digital teaching, and the arts.

The platform was created as part of the CEPHEI project (2017–2021), funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program (Higher Education – International Capacity Building). The project aimed to strengthen the digitalization, internationalization, and global visibility of Industrial Innovation education by introducing blended learning approaches in both EU and partner-country universities.


The project was coordinated by LUT University (Finland) together with leading partner universities:

  • MEF Üniversitesi (Turkey)
  • Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University (Russia)

  • University of Twente (Netherlands)


Since the original project, the platform has been used in several other European collaborative initiatives, including:

  • MEDIA Project – strengthening the quality of online education in higher education institutions in Moldova and Armenia.
  • CONNECT Project – linking career counselling and HR development in enterprises with higher education training.
  • ELMO-LION Project – developing educational modules on Li-ion battery technology.
  • 3I Solutions for Public Services Project – enabling better public services through immersive, intelligent, and innovative solutions.
  • ARTIST Project – designing innovative Master-level modules that integrate the arts into innovation, entrepreneurship, and science education.


So far, more than 40 courses have been offered on the CEPHEI Learning Platform, with over 2,400 learners participating.


The platform provides a neutral, collaborative space where institutions can easily publish and share learning content—especially valuable in international projects involving multiple universities, where adopting a single proprietary system (such as Moodle) is challenging.


Powered by Open edX, a globally recognized open-source learning environment, CEPHEI ensures long-term stability, scalability, and freedom from the limitations of proprietary systems.

  • Courses are available in multiple languages, including English and Chinese.
  • The platform can be accessed seamlessly from anywhere, including China.

This makes CEPHEI a practical solution for cross-border, multilingual education and a strong base for future international collaboration.
